A young Syrian woman recently arrived in Cairo believes she may be falling in love. Her path, however, takes an unexpected turn when she finds herself entangled with an Egyptian paramedic on a journey to uncover the identity of an unidentified Syrian man who passed away under the paramedic’s care at a public hospital. Together, they set out to find the man’s identification papers, determined to ensure he receives a proper burial. Along the way, Salma gains a deeper understanding of the complexities of refugee life and the meanings of identity that she had yet to encounter.
