For thousands of Palestinians, most often, it’s not enough to love a person to be able to be with them; as the apartheid law dictates, displaced Palestinians who do not hold a Palestinian passport are prohibited from working in Palestine or visiting for more than two consecutive days. As a consequence, families have to live separately, emigrate, or remain in Palestine under constant threat of permanent displacement.
“Love in the Time of Apartheid” is a contemporary art performance about Sharaf who has to make tough choices between two loves: his homeland and his partner.
