A critical review of Arab children’s literature and the mechanisms of readership cultivation. The project works on a critical deconstruction of the institution of writing for/ reading by children through a three-pronged inquiry into the reasons why authors write for children, why parents want their children to read these books, and why children themselves read them. The research attempts to apply these three questions in deconstructive reading that tries to understand the mechanisms behind the creation of the writing/reading institution in the Arab context.
