Socotra Planet Organization seeks to create the largest archive of Socotra Island’s cultural heritage in order to preserve and protect its unique natural formations and rare flora and fauna from human and natural threats through programs grounded in artistic and cultural principles. The organization hopes that by drawing global attention to this heritage, it can encourage genuine efforts to preserve it.The organization documents the island’s unique natural and social character through audio and visual artistic works. Additionally, it seeks to rally local and international support to designate the island as a natural reserve and address its environmental challenges. It also aims to unify efforts to preserve the Socotri language and document its oral literature, while training local youth in audio and visual content creation to generate job opportunities.
