Storyhouse is a long-term development studio for Arab independent feature films to increase the viability of independent storytelling and filmmaking. The program will accept between 16 and 20 film projects from across the Arab world, with a special focus in the first edition on films from Tunisia, Egypt, and Yemen.
The films will engage in a rigorous development process that spans workshops, lectures, mentorships, film-specific consultations, and support that will be split into three categories: Creative, Production, and Audience Development. This development process will play out over the course of 12 months, after which there will be a six-month concerted effort to market and find a distributor for the films.
Storyhouse aims to help filmmakers explore and experiment with the language, form and narrative methods of film with a desire to help film projects to exist in diverse formats and realms: publishing academia, the web, exhibition spaces.
