In 1982, a statue of Bacchus disappeared from the Roman site of Volubilis in Morocco. The neighboring village, unjustly suspected, was surrounded by the military and intelligence services, and its inhabitants were subjected to extreme physical and psychological torture. As for the statue of Bacchus, it is still missing.
