Woman, photographer, Palestinian and pioneer in a field that was male-dominated at the time, Karimeh Abbud (1893-1940) is a remarkable figure. Her work is an invaluable record of social, cultural and political life in Palestine at the start of the 20th century. The book project and exhibition by Barzakh Publishing House are founded on the historical work of Ahmed Mrowat, founder and director of the Nazareth Archive Project.
