This project aims to enrich the Arabic literary field by addressing one of the rarely tackled topics in critical works: the poetics of texts composed specifically for musical compositions and singing. It examines the influence of “gatekeeping” in media research, a factor that has shaped the production of an official musical composition that has long dominated Egyptian songs, imbuing them with an identity marked by limited imagination and repetitive themes, thereby sidelining music that genuinely expresses the concerns of the Egyptian people.
