Collectif Cinéma et Mémoire is an Algerian cinema collective that aims to support national cinema – both in terms of production and reception – and encourage social dialogue across a variety of fronts. It provides opportunities for professional advancement to filmmakers via residencies and training programs as well as access to the collective’s production hub. It also tries to promote social awareness by curating film programs on critical issues, and, to encourage engagement with the image, it has established image centers in rural areas and hosts cine-clubs. To create a critical discourse within the film community and share knowledge, Collectif Cinéma et Mémoire publishes the journal Carnets Cinéma Mémoire and organizes conferences. And to encourage engagement with Algerian cinema abroad, the collective collaborates with international organizations to showcase Algerian films in international venues.
