Launched in 2018, EL Moutanakil is a hub that aims to provide physical and virtual spaces to bring together the musicians, producers, promoters and cultural spaces that make up Algeria’s diverse musical subsets. At its core, EL Moutanakil aims to provide support and a chance for experimentation for independent artists and promote non-traditional and underground music that are often overshadowed by the mainstream. It does this while ensuring that these musics can sit beside the various other forms of diverse musical and cultural expressions in Algeria. More recently, EL Moutanakil has expanded its efforts by opening its own physical space, launching its own brand and organizing a music festival.
