Amid a drought, a group of women in a modern-day Atlas village resort to an ancient Amazigh ritual: Taghenja, a ladle dressed as a bride, invokes Taslit, “the bride of rain,” and her lover, Anzar “the god of rain.” “Ladle, ladle, bring us Anzar!” chant the women to make it rain again. Ignoring the village men’s skepticism, the women carry on with the ritual until they discover the malevolent culprits behind the drought.
