The Other Country tells the story of the director’s solo return to Beirut, which forced itself into his consciousness with the August 4 Beirut explosion. Being French-Lebanese, he can not stop thinking about the blast. He embarks on the journey at the same age as his parents left their country. Between diary entries and family portraits, the film charts Sylvain’s stay in Lebanon, a scarred country that feels so familiar and yet so foreign to him: his other country.
