Facing death threats, writer R.M. flees Algeria in the 90s for a life of exile in France. Far from his wife and son, R.M. is overcome by paranoia and doubt. But when his exilic ills give way to a terminal disease that is so banal in comparison, R.H. should confront his own futility, but instead turns his eyes away from the many forms of evil that plague him.
