Cotton Queen presents a young girl’s vision of a changing Sudan, one in which she and her small cotton farming village play a central role in striving to exceed their determined roles. Nafisa’s discovery of what has formed the village and her own role in it as a future apolitical housewife are the keys to save the cotton fields and herself from exploitation.
