Echo is a stage performance about the interconnections of the concepts of death and freedom and the problematics of their relation in Syrian and Arab thought over the past 10 years. The performance centers on the story of a young man, Issa, who loses his father at the start of 2011, causing doubts about the nature of death to arise. So, Issa sets out on a personal journey in search of liberation from the ghost of his father — a journey that comes as part of a broader journey of a region searching for freedom from its oppressors.
