The project examines Egyptian contemporary art history through researching the works of artists, the extent of western cultures’ influence on its characteristics, methods, and the actual relation between heritage and modernity, local and global. It also studies ways of communication of modern Egyptian art with the essence of art heritage to reach a local identity. Furthermore, the project examines the extent to which modern Egyptian art is influenced by modern western trends to become a global truth, thus forming a historical study of the period between 1990 and 2020.
