As the archeologist Dorothy Garrod is performing some excavation works in Palestine in 1932, her assistant Yusra discovers a skeleton of a female Neanderthal, which turns the prevailing theories upside down. Garrod suggests that she joins the department of archeology in Cambridge, but this never happen! The village of Ijzam gets destroyed in 1948 and her family becomes displaced. Garrod dies in 1968 and loses her archives. But this archive appears again involving a picture of Yusra and Dorothy, which brings back the story of the unknown Yusra, to life.
