If Only Brightness Had Eyes is a feature film set in Syria at the turn of the twenty-first century about a woman novelist living with her 18-year old son, who dreams of traveling to Italy to study cinema. The novelist is waiting for her husband –– a political prisoner–– to be released from jail. The film, the third part of a trilogy portraying life in Syria during the second half of the 20th century, is a portrait of love stolen and the anxiety of its awaited returned.
