Gramofoon seeks to protect the region’s musical archive and to make it available to the wide range of Arabic-speaking internet users through modern and open source software. The project also seeks to discover and connect with music archives of different cultures. While Gramophone focuses on the popular and folk genres in both Arab and international music, it also encourages independent Arab productions.
