Rural Celebrations, commonly known as 'Wâadi' or ‘Waâdates’ are akin to seasonal festivals organized by local communities from different regions of Algeria. These celebrations are more frequent in the Western part of the country and usually coincide with the season of grape harvesting. They constitute an elaborate system of amusement, where a person can find simultaneously what is joyous, weird and saddening in the same moment. It is the circus of life. This project will document these celebrations.
