El-Atlal is a residency program in the oasis city of Jericho, in Palestine. Such a place – the lowest city in the world and arguably the oldest – is conducive to creation, although it suffers from extreme isolation. In 2017, El-Atlal renews its residency program and welcomes artists and researchers to work and exchange together and with the local communities. It strives to create new images of Palestine by inviting artists and writers to engage with its reality on the field. The project highlights the local rather the national; Jericho, a specific city in the country with very specific resources and needs.
