Tareq Rantisi is a Grammy-nominated world percussionist, composer, and educator, with a background rooted in the Arabic music tradition. Initially self-taught, he holds a BA in performance and a MA from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Tareq's unique musical approach pulls from Jazz, Afro-Cuban, Indian, West African, and Brazilian traditions.
He has performed with renowned artists such as Simon Shaheen, Luciana Souza, Aaron Goldberg, and as part of Danilo Perez’s Global Messengers.
Tareq is the director of Access Culture, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a society where everyone can engage with diverse cultural traditions, explore the wonders of nature and develop a sense of belonging. Through Access Culture, he leads the World Music Concert Series, an initiative that transforms underutilized public spaces in Greater Boston into cultural hubs.
The series features free outdoor performances by artists to foster community engagement and make world music accessible to all.
As an educator, Tareq has led master classes and workshops worldwide, collaborating with institutions like Boston College, Brandeis University, and The Arabic Music Retreat. His commitment to using music for social change and education continues to inspire his work on and off the stage.
