Ez-Eldin is an Egyptian novelist and short story writer whose works have been translated into over ten languages. She was selected as one of the top 39 Arab writers under forty at the Beirut39 festival. Ez-Eldin has published three short story collections — Shaken Light (2001), Towards Madness (2013), and Shelter of Absence (2018) — as well as six novels: Maryam's Maze (2004), Beyond Paradise (2009), Emerald Mountain (2014), Shadow Play (2017), The Orchards of Basra (2020), and Disappearance Atlas (2021). She currently serves as the executive managing editor of the Egyptian newspaper Akhbar Al-Adab, where she has been the editor of its books section since 2003. She has also been overseeing the newspaper’s monthly supplement, Bostan Al-Kutub, which focuses on book reviews and publishing matters, since 2005.
