Ghazi Gheblawi was born in Tripoli, Libya, where he studied medicine and published his first literary works. He has published two collections of short stories in Arabic and has also translated and published various literary works in English in the United Kingdom, where he currently resides. Gheblawi directed and hosted a cultural blog and podcast titled Imtidad, which focused on literature and the arts in Britain and the Arab world. In 2017, he served as a jury member for the Caine Prize for African Writing and, in 2019, chaired the jury panel for the Saif Ghobash Banipal Prize for Arabic Literary Translation. Gheblawi is the managing editor at Fergiani Publishing House and Darf Publishers and serves on the board of trustees of the Banipal Trust for Arab Literature.
