Born in Marrakesh in 1975, Taoufiq Izeddiou originally studied architecture, but, in 1995, he discovered his passion for contemporary dance and began exploring the discipline in Morocco. Under the mentorship of Bernardo Montet, Taoufiq entered the professional dance world through productions at the National Choreographic Center of Tours.
In 2001, Taoufiq founded Anania, Morocco's first contemporary dance company and launched the country's first training program in contemporary dance. Fourteen years later, this program became part of the curriculum at Nafass, the first school of choreographic arts in Morocco, which he initiated. In 2005, he created On Marche, the first international contemporary dance festival in Morocco. For the festival's 15th edition in 2021, Taoufiq was awarded the French Ministerial Order of Arts and Letters, Knight degree.
