Leila Tayeb is an assistant professor in residence at Northwestern University in Qatar. She received her PhD in performance studies from Northwestern University and holds MAs in performance studies from New York University and international affairs from The New School. Prior to joining NU-Q,  Leila held positions as a humanities research fellow for the study of the Arab world at NYU Abu Dhabi and as a Stanford Taylor postdoctoral associate in music and Islam in the contemporary world at Cornell University. With a focus on performance and politics in contemporary Libya, Leila’s writing has appeared in the Middle East Journal of Culture and Communication, Lateral, and the Arab Studies Journal. She is a founding co-editor of Lamma: A Journal of Libyan Studies.
