Salah Badis is a journalist, writer and translator with a decade of experience in Algerian and regional Arabic-language journalism outlets. He co-founded literary magazines and digital journalism platforms, such as Nafha (2015) and Twala (2020), which report on Algeria, and Khatt30 (2021), which takes on a wider scope looking at several North African countries. In 2020, he was awarded the Mostafa al-Hossainy Award for Best Young Arab Journalist for an article covering the protest movements in Algiers during the 2019 demonstrations.
As a writer, Salah has published a collection of poetry titled The Weariness of Ships (2016) and a short story collection in Things that Happen (2019). The latter was translated into French and English. 
As a translator, Salah has translated two French novels into Arabic, both published by Barzakh Editions in Algeria. Salah also works with filmmakers to translate screenplays. He also leads writing and translation workshops with various artistic and cultural groups in Algeria, focusing primarily on assisting artists and researchers.
Salah’s written works and research interests extend to Algerian music traditions, particularly the Algerian folk and Rai music genres.
