Nariman El-Mofty is a documentary photographer and photojournalist.

After years of photo editing and photography for the Associated Press Middle East photo desk, Nariman became a staff photojournalist.

In 2019, she was part of an Associated Press team that won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting for work uncovering the effects of Yemen's devastating war. She also received the Overseas Press Club’s Olivier Rebbot Award for her Yemen photo reportage. She was awarded the Robert Capa Citation for Excellence for Disembarking in Hell, which documented the dangerous journey of Ethiopian migrants crossing the sea to Yemen and then making their way to Saudi Arabia. 

In 2020, she traveled to the Sudanese-Ethiopian border to photograph the Tigray people who take shelter by the thousands within sight of the homeland they fled in northern Ethiopia. The resulting work, Fleeing War, received a Robert Capa Gold Medal Award in 2020 and was exhibited at the Visa Pour L’Image Festival in Perpignan, France, in 2021.

Nariman was part of an AP team covering Russia's invasion of Ukraine, which was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News Photography for its coverage of the horrors of the war since it began in February 2022. 

Most recently, Nariman became a contributor to The New York Times and is currently working on long-term projects.
