Ely Dagher is a Lebanese screenwriter and director based in Beirut. His debut feature The Sea Ahead (2021) premiered at the 53rd Director’s Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. His short film Waves‘ 98 was previously awarded the Palme d'Or for short films at the 2015 Cannes festival. His multi-medium practice layers and constructs multiple narratives across film, painting, and installation. Drawing from his upbringing, his work explores correlations and possibilities produced through the play of cultures, histories, and fiction.
