Beirut’s experimental music festival Irtijal 2019 returns in its 19th edition from March 29 to 31, 2019, rich with local and international acts including two shows by AFAC grantees.
AFAC grantees, Lebanese duo Abed Kobeissy and Ali Hout (Two or the Dragon), will close the first day of the festival at Metro Al Madina, accompanied by trumpeter Pablo Giw and tombak player Joss Turnbull. The AFAC-supported performance “A Universe Not Made for Us” by Yalda Younes and Khyam Allami will take place on Saturday March 30 at Ashkal Alwan.
The International Festival for Experimental Music in Lebanon - Irtijal was founded in 2000 by Mazen Kerbaj and Sharif Sehnaoui to foster contemporary and experimental music and promote projects that do not fit within the Lebanese mainstream yet present undeniable artistic value.
