Two AFAC-supported films will premiere at the 72nd annual Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale).
In Egyptian director Mohamad Shawky Hassan’s “Shall I Compare You to a Summer’s Day?”, premiering in the Berlinale Forum section, romantic encounters, haunting memories, pop music and folktales intersect in a metafictional musical essay.
In the Somali film premiering in the Berlinale Shorts section, “Will My Parents Come to See Me” by Muhamed Bashiir Harawe, a young Somali man who has to undergo official procedures shortly before his death sentence.
Two other Arab films will be competing at Berlinale this year, in the Forum Expanded section: “Gazing... Unseeing” by Mohamed Abdelkarim (Egypt), and “All of Your Stars Are but Dust on My Shoes” by Haig Aivazian (Lebanon).
