Nizar Rohana is a Palestinian oud player based in the Netherlands known for combining virtuosity within fresh contemporary compositions while maintaining the oud’s authentic language. Nizar began playing music at a young age. He studied oud performance and musicology at the Rubin Academy and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, completing his master's degree in 2006. Nizar completed a practice-based PhD at Leiden University under the title “Ūd Taqsīm as a Model of Pre-Composition.” He studied composition with the renowned Palestinian composer Bishara Khell. During the last 25 years, Nizar performed in Japan, the USA, and in the Middle East and in Europe. His album Sard (2008) is popular among oud music lovers.
