Salem Brahimi’s work reflects his personal background: multicultural, diverse, and global. With a mixed heritage and a journey that took him from London, where he was born, to Algiers and Tunis, where he was raised, and to Paris, where he now lives, Salem feels equally at ease in the Middle East, Europe, the US or wherever films take him.

Salem learned his craft working closely with master storytellers such as Academy Award winning director Costa Gavras, who produced Salem’s award-winning film Let Them Come (2015). Salem seeks to shape films that are an experience for the audience, boldly mixing animation and live-action in Abd-El-Kader (2013) or crossing genre bridges with Let Them Come, a sweeping chronicle of Algeria’s civil war that is both a political thriller and an intimate character piece.

Salem is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and a board member of DocA, an organization supporting the development of documentary and storytelling in Africa.
