Born in 1989, lives and works between Rabat, Boujdour and Marseille. Abdessamad El Montassir is currently artist-researcher at the IMéRA Foundation – Institut Méditerranéen d’Etudes Avancées d'Aix-Marseille He has held the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) grant in 2015 to co-founded Achayef, an art and research space, where artists are invited to reflect on heterogeneous problems through the political, cultural and territorial specificities of the province of Boujdour. He participated in several exhibitions, including Invisible curated by Alya Sebti for IFA-Galerie Berlin, and the 13th Biennale of Contemporary African Art of Dakar, De liens et d’exils at Villa Empain, Boghossian Foundation, Al Amakine in the contexte of 11ème Rencontres de Bamako, Saout Africa(s) in the contexte of the documenta 14 at SAVVY Contemporary in Berlin, Home in the Mediterranea 18 Youn Artists Biennale in Tirana and Durrës, Don’t Agonize, Organize at Poppositions in Bruxelles, and Résistance at Le Cube – independent art room in Rabat. Abdessamad El Montassir also participated in various artist residencies : Programme Art, Science et Société at IMéRA in Marseille, La Cité Internationale des Arts à Paris, the summer’s lab at Le Cube – independent art room in Rabat, the Résidence Méditerrannée at La Friche La Belle de Mai in Marseille. He also joined the « art, technology and ecology, production and post- production » lab, a project led by L’Appartement 22.
