Mohammed Sheikh’s filmmaking journey began in the heart of the Kebribeyah refugee camp in Eastern Ethiopia, where the stories of his mother and the flickering images on a small television sparked his passion for storytelling. As a self-taught filmmaker, he is deeply committed to capturing the diverse narratives of the Somali community. His films, including The Forgotten Ones (2023) and Balwo (2023), have garnered recognition and sparked conversations on critical issues. The Forgotten Ones, a short documentary, has been screened in cities across the United States and featured by CBS, Sahan Journal and MPR News.
