Born in Damascus in 1987, Jalal is an animation filmmaker who graduated with a BA in visual communication from Damascus University in 2010. His animadoc Suleima premiered at the DOK Leipzig 2014. In 2020, he earned a master's degree at the Film University Babelsberg. His thesis project, Have a Nice Dog!, debuted at Filmfest Dresden and went on to screen at numerous festivals, earning multiple awards. The film notably qualified for the 2020 Animation Short Film Oscar by winning the Grand Prix in Uppsala. Jalal has also served as a jury member at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS), the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, and other festivals.
