Reber Dosky, born in 1975 in Dohuk, Kurdistan, is a Kurdish/Dutch filmmaker. He studied directing at the Dutch Film Academy. His graduation project became the film The Call (2013). His short documentary, The Sniper of Kobani (2015), marked his international breakthrough, winning awards at several festivals. Reber’s feature debut, Radio Kobani (2016), premiered at IDFA, where it won the national competition. The film went on to play at numerous international festivals and won 14 awards, including at the Copenhagen International Documentary Festival and Camerimage. His short film Meryem (2017) was nominated for the European Film Awards and won several other accolades. With his film Sidik and the Panther (2019), Reber won the national competition at IDFA once again. His latest film Daughters of the Sun (2023) was selected for the Golden Calf competition at the 2023 Dutch Film Festival.
