Amel Blidi began her film career in 2013 when the Cinéma et Mémoire Association introduced her to the world of documentary filmmaking. She co-directed her first short documentary, Demain est un autre jour (Tomorrow is another day), with Nabil Boubkeur. In 2016, she finished her second documentary, A l'ombre des Mots, about the Café des sourds in Algiers, as part of the Laboratoires du film documentaire d'Alger. That same year, she was selected to participate in the prestigious Ateliers Varan documentary film workshops, where she filmed her third documentary, Drôles de rencontres. In 2019, she directed her first fiction film, Chabchaq Maricane (An Algerian Game), produced by the Centre algérien pour le développement du cinéma (CADC) and by Arak Productions.
