Asia Madani is a Sudanese singer and percussionist based in Cairo. She specializes in playing Sudanese folk songs that express all parts of Sudan, as well as music from various African regions. She also performs zar, as a psychotherapy. In 2001, Asia moved to Egypt, where she has performed at the Cairo Opera House, Salah El Din Citadel and Cairo Jazz Club. Asia has also participated in various international festivals, such as Sauti za Busara in Zanzibar. In 2015, she joined the Nile Project, a collective of over 30 musicians from the Nile Basin countries that aim to inspire, inform, and connect citizens. With the collective, she went on tours in Africa, Europe and the US, tours that consisted of live concerts and music workshops.
