Born in 1993 in Bethlehem, Palestine, Faris Ishaq taught himself to play the nay. The instrument became his musical companion, driving his curiosity and explorations of traditional music. Faris has worked to revitalize tashbib, music played by shepherds in Palestine, and staked out a space for himself in contemporary jazz. He received a scholarship to study global jazz at Berklee College of Music, has collaborated with Grammy award-winning artist John Patitucci and has been featured on the Grammy-nominated album Crisalida and the BAFTA-nominated Assassin's Creed Mirage soundtrack.
