Eman Elnemr

Eman Elnemr holds a PhD in modern and contemporary history, earned in 2017 with her thesis Family Businesses in Egypt 1920-1961 and a master’s degree earned in 2012 with her thesis The History of Egyptian Theater and Its Impact on Society (1869-1920). Her first book, Egyptian Theater from the Renaissance to the 1919 Revolution, was published in 2019 with the National Library and Archives. Her research interests include the projects of the dominant elite and so-called modernization transformations, their impacts on society, modes of resistance or responses to them, and people’s interventions in shaping them. Eman focuses specifically on the daily practices of various forms of art related to the transformation of the political economy and modernization, including mechanisms for creating dominant narratives.
