Sentiers was founded in 2017 as a cultural organization focused on disseminating cinematic culture and the culture of the public image in marginalized Tunisian communities. The association organizes film screenings and workshops on photography and film criticism. At the cultural and artistic levels, Sentiers considers art in general and cinema in particular to be a political act, a unique expression of communal life, and a central part of the question of democracy’s potential for creative expression and the process of audience engagement. The association structures its activities in a collaborative way where the audience, especially younger members, take on an active role in the process of understanding the self, the world and the creative process. Sentiers is currently active in marginalized areas close to the capital Tunis, after previously working on areas farther away from Tunis.
