Ali Mohammad Saeed is an Iraqi-American filmmaker born in Baghdad. He received his bachelor of arts in cinema from Lansing College and a master’s degree in broadcast and cinematic arts from Central Michigan University. In 2013, he founded Enki Film Academy in the US, a not-for-profit organization to support independent films and those working in film. His first short film Mosul 980 was submitted by Iraq to the Academy Awards after its premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in 2019. Ali has worked as a producer for TV and films. Among his recent credits is a short film Unspoken by Mohammed Alghadhban, which won the Best Film Award at the Mumbai International Film Festival in 2021. He was also awarded the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity for best playwright in the United Arab Emirates in 2009 and is a member of the Iraqi Artists Syndicate.
