Feras Fayyad is an Oscar-nominated filmmaker. His first feature film 'Last Men in Aleppo' won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2017, where the film premiered. It was distributed worldwide by Grasshopper Film and picked up by Netflix, before having its broadcast premiere in the US on the American documentary 'POV'. Fayyad won the critic choices awards for most conventional documentary, and he is the first Syrian director nominated for a Spirit Award, Academy Award and Peabody Award. Fayyad also won the Courage Under Fire Award from the International Documentary Association, and his film was selected as one of the best documentaries in over 20 critics year-end lists for 2017. 'Last Men in Aleppo' was nominated for a BAFTA craft Award, best documentary at Cinema Eyes Honour and an IDA Award for Best Documentary Feature. The film also won Best Documentary at Asian Pacific Academy Award and Emmy award for current affairs and has received more than 40 awards worldwide.
