Yacine Boulares

Tunisian saxophonist, clarinetist and composer based in Brooklyn, NY
.A graduate from La Sorbonne in Philosophy and the Conservatoire National de Paris, he is also a Fulbright and New School for Jazz grantee.  A versatile musician and composer, his debut album AJOYO was released in 2015 on Ropeadope Records and played on radios throughout the world from New Yorks' WNYC to French RFI, London's Jazz FM, National radio in Brazil… A sought after sideman and arranger, he regularly records and performs with the likes of Placido Domingo (Encanto Del Mar), Tabou Combo, Sheila Jordan... In 2015 his project Abu Sadiya with Vincent Segal and Nasheet Waits is awarded the French American Jazz Exchange and the AFAC grant. The trio album, exploring the Tunisian Stambeli, was released in 2017 on the French label Accords Croisés and premiered in the US at the Lincoln Center Atrium in April 2018. Acclaimed by the press after its French release the trio was programmed at the Jazzahead festival in Bremen, Germany.  Yacine Boulares is also involved in many creative projects with schools and community-based organizations in the US. In 2016-17 he is an artist in residence at the Baltimore School for the arts where he is commissioned to compose a suite of songs blending Jazz with West and North African rhythms. Yacine is a D'Addario woodwinds and Lebayle Mouthpieces artist.
