AFAC grantee Visualizing Palestine – VP - released their latest infographic, “5 Broken Cameras: Growing up with the Bil'in Resistance”, in time for the Academy Awards ceremony as a billboard of Emad Burnat’s Oscar-nominated film holding the same name. “We have followed the weekly nonviolent action of the Bil'in community which we find so inspiring due to their steadfastness” says VP co-founder Joumana al Jabri, whereby VP is an international initiative that creates visual stories for social justice based on facst and data on Palestine. “The documentary was beautifully edited and narrated and was nominated for feature documentary. It has received other accolades such as an award from the Sundance Film Festival, we hope that the story of peaceful resistance against the wall and settlements in Bil'in will gain more attention” she said.
The first-ever Palestinian film to be nominated for best Documentary Feature by A.M.P.A.S®, the critically-acclaimed 5 BROKEN CAMERAS is a deeply personal, first-hand account of life and non-violent resistance in Bil’in, a Palestinian village surrounded by Israeli settlements.
