Ahmed El Attar Conferred with French Distinction Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters

20 Sep, 2018

Egyptian independent theater and playwright – as well as AFAC juror and grantee - Ahmed El Attar has been named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres) by the Ministry of Culture in France, in recognition of his valuable contributions to theater.

The Order of Arts and Letters is an exclusive French distinction established in 1957 by the French Minister of Culture. It aims to recognize outstanding contributions in arts and/or literature, or the propagation of these fields.

In 2017, the French-Syrian journalist and photographer Ammar Abd Rabbo, the Algerian actress Nadia Kaci, and the Lebanese musician, composer and singer Marcel Khalife were among the Arab recipients of this prestigious distinction.

Ahmed El Attar sat twice on the jury of Performing Arts and AFAC’s new Arts and Culture Entrepreneurship program respectively, and he was supported by AFAC for his renown DECAF festival.
