The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture (AFAC) announced today the signature of a three-year grant agreement to strengthen the artistic freedom in the Arab region.
“To enable free artistic expressions to exist and grow is very important in the Arab region of today”, said Borge Brende, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. “I am therefore glad that we have concluded an agreement with the renowned cultural institution AFAC”.
“Today’s agreement is yet another small step forward to strengthen the sustainability of our funding”, says Dr. Ghassan Salamé, Chairman of AFAC. “We are very happy to join forces with the Ministry to invest in the talent and future of our region”.
AFAC`s General Grant Program supports more than a 100 artists and institutions both from the Arab region and internationally, to realize their projects in the fields of film, music, visual arts, performing arts, and regional cultural events. The Program also helps promote the grantees’ work through forging partnerships and reinforcing networking.
